BOIL WATER ORDER REMAINS IN EFFECT

On January 29th, Municipal District of St. Stephen staff were conducting normal daily maintenance when they encountered issues with a pump.  During the repair it was determined that the pump failure was a result of a constriction of a line running between the pump and well. This discovery necessitated the replacement of this line.

On February 7th, at approximately 3pm Municipal Staff were able to bring the repaired pump and new line into service.  Testing taken at the reservoir outlet on February 8th showed a level of turbidity in excess of regulated levels. In accordance with protocols, the Department of Public Health was notified of our findings.

The Department of Public Health determined that it was appropriate to issue a Boil Water Order for the entire potable water system.

At this time the Boil Water Order remains in place while Municipal Staff, supported by necessary contracted services, continue efforts to ensure that all contributing factors to this situation are identified and corrected.
