BOIL WATER ORDER UPDATE
February 19, 2025
The Municipal District of St. Stephen staff continue to work in collaboration with outside expertise to identify and repair the cause of the pump failure at the Maxwell Crossing facility. The inclement weather and temperatures have made this work additionally challenging.
Today, the Municipal District of St. Stephen has implemented operational changes which isolated the problematic area. This has allowed an agreement with the Department of Health, to begin water testing with the ultimate goal of lifting the current Boil Water Order. The first sample was taken today and couriered to the testing facility. A second sample will be drawn tomorrow and couriered to the testing facility. If both tests return acceptable results, the Department would be in a position to lift the Boil Water Order.
While an issue remains at the Maxwell Crossing Facility, work will resume when required parts/equipment arrive.
Citizens may expect:
- Boil Water Order to remain in effect until at least Friday
- Continued efforts by our municipal staff and outside expertise to identify the source of the failure and bring system back into normal operating status.
- Further updates issued via Alertable, local media, and social media as they become available.
