BOIL WATER ORDER UPDATE
FEBRUARY 14, 2025
Municipal staff, aided by local contractors and engineers have identified that the source of the issue is an air leak disrupting the vacuum on the main pump at the Maxwell Crossing facility. In order to undertake appropriate repairs, the source of the air leak must be identified. At this time, we have been unable to determine the location of this leak.
Yesterday, a contractor arrived on site with specialized equipment to assist in detecting the location of the offending air leak. This equipment is being deployed alongside pipeline excavation work. Once the leak is located, repair work can be initiated. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a timeline for completion of this work at this time.
Anticipated Timelines
- Once repair has been completed, municipal staff will need to undertake flushing of approximately 3km of pipe. This work is expected to take approximately 3 days.
- Following flushing, it is expected that turbidity in the system should return to normal levels.
- In order to lift the Boil Water order, Public Health will require 2 acceptable water tests 24 hours apart. (2 days).
Citizens should Expect:
- Municipal crews and any required contracted services will continue their efforts to rectify this situation as soon as possible.
- Citizens should expect and plan that the Boil Water Order will remain in place for the next 7 to 10 days.
- The Municipal District will continue to provide updates as they are warranted via its Alertable app, local media, and social media.
The Municipal District apologizes for this unexpected interruption in service and for the inconveniences caused. We are making every effort to take corrective action as quickly as possible.
