May 14, 2025 - The Municipal District of St. Stephen is mourning the loss of Ward 3 Councillor Earle Eastman. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues and anyone who had the privilege to know him.
Eastman first became a member of Council in 2023 after winning a Ward 3 seat in the inaugural election for the newly formed Municipal District of St. Stephen.
A true advocate for his constituents, Eastman worked tirelessly to ensure that the interests of rural citizens were kept in the forefront of municipal policy making.
Among his many causes, Eastman promoted fiscal restraint, good governance, and emergency preparedness. Additionally, he was a staunch proponent of transparent and accountable government, earning the respect of colleagues and residents for his integrity and commitment to good governance.
"During his years of service, Councillor Eastman demonstrated a strong commitment to our community and its residents. He will be remembered as a thoughtful, diligent individual who worked hard to make a difference. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those impacted by this difficult loss," said Chief Administrative Officer, Jeff Renaud.
"On behalf of the Council of the Municipal District of St. Stephen, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to Councillor Eastman's family, friends and those whose lives he touched. Councillor Eastman was a mentor to many, and will be remembered for his service to our country, our community, and his contributions to the Municipal District of St. Stephen," stated Mayor Allan MacEachern.
Earle grew up in St. Stephen and after graduating from high school decided to make the military a career and after 33 years, retired honourably and settled back home. As a trained technologist in the Electrical, Mechanical Engineering field, plus years of developing a solid skill set in both Leadership and Management, Earle put those qualities to work in serving the constituents of the municipality.
Earle served and chaired on many charitable boards and was the Past President of the local St. Croix Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Provincial District Commander (oversees all of the Legion Branches in Charlotte County).
Earle, when not volunteering his time to different charitable organizations, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, who along with his wife Charleen, loved to get out riding and enjoyed meeting people in the community.
